What's with this pilling?

All cotton pills. It’s caused by friction with other fabrics in the wash.

The reason you’re noticing those fuzzy strands is because of the high quality of the extra long staple cotton our Bombas socks are made from. In socks with shorter fiber strands, you don’t see pilling because the strands just fall off, which makes the material thinner and less comfortable with each wash.

Because our strands are extra long, you can see that fuzz. It's a sign the sock is staying together, and not thinning out, nor losing its softness. Think of it as a sign of the socks rugged durability...like a good five o'clock shadow.
